2 Samuel 8-9:
- David defeats all the nations around him
- The chapter ends with the following phrase "And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went" Is that what Jesus is offering me today?
- David continues to honor the family of Saul by caring for Mephibosheth - once again showing the power of the Holy Spirit to give us the ability to love those we could justify hating. Now that is a powerful Spirit
- Paul knows his communication with this church has caused pain
- Paul reverts to the gospel and what living for Christ means
- Forgive others
- Victory in Christ
Ezekiel 16:
- God through Ezekiel reminds the people that He loved them before they were even formed
- He loved them before others would have found them desirable
- They were the ones to seek other gods
- They became prostitutes only unlike a prostitute who offers sex only after receiving payment, the nation offered sex before and without payment.
- God will love them and restore them again
John 17:
- Jesus links His struggle to His relationship with God
- Jesus states again and again, that being one with Christ will cause us trouble and pain
- Jesus reminds us that He will not leave us to endure the trouble alone
