Be Ready in Season and Out of Season...

[4:1] I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: [2] preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. [3] For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, [4] and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. [5] As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
(2 Timothy 4:1-5 ESV)

On this first Monday after Reformation Sunday,  part of the daily Bible reading is about being ready to preach.  One of the many reforms the Reformers wanted to see happen in the Catholic Church of their day was a return to preaching and teaching God's Word as contained in the 66 books of the Bible. Today, we are blessed with many churches preaching from the Bible it almost feels like we can claim mission accomplished! But as the passage above reminds us this is not a one and done thing, it on going.

It is with that in mind, that the Christian Ninja blog page offers two Bible reading plans in the calendar section, a weekly memory verse at the top of the page, daily postings from the Westminster Confession and the Larger and Shorter or Children's Catechism (hard to imagine kids memorized that document), and links on the topics prayer along with ministry resources.

It is my hope you will find the information helpful in keeping you prepared in and out of season to share the love of Christ with those around you.

Thank you for praying for my preaching on Sunday. God provided a group of friends along with an already supportive congregation to encourage me Sunday morning.  If so moved, please remember to pray for me on the following Sundays.
